Close your eyes and picture yourself sitting quietly by a beautiful
lake. Off in the distance, a loon cries. The sun's rays sparkle across the
water. The smell of pine fills the air around you. You feel rested and
stress free.

Welcome to the "magical" place
known as Tarry - A - While. Created from a dream of a man named Forrest
Abbott in the late 1890's. Located in the
Western Maine Lakes Region between the mountains and Maine coast, Tarry
- A - While offers you spectacular views, boating on an uncrowded lake
and unforgettable sunsets.

You can spend your day by the lake, enjoying a swim at our sandy beach.
Here you will find canoes, kayaks, row boats and a sail boat free for your
taking. If you are activity inclined, enjoy a game of tennis, badminton,
shuffleboard, ping pong or croquet. A public eighteen hole golf course is
a short walk away. Many wonderful activities are within an hour drive.
Our five housekeeping cottages reflect true Maine hospitality: clean
and comfortable. Or, if you prefer to be pampered, stay in one of the
eleven
rooms in the 1897 Inn, where a continental breakfast is served daily.
